How sellers in Hungary use COD PRO

Send Hungarian WhatsApp messages, automated voice calls, or emails after a Shopify COD order is placed. On a voice call, the customer presses 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. Auto mode starts with email, then tries WhatsApp and a call, stopping on the first reply. Use a real Shopify fulfillment hold when an order must wait for confirmation.

The Buy with Cash on Delivery button offers a separate step before checkout. It verifies the shopper’s phone with a WhatsApp or SMS one-time code. SMS is not used for post-order Shopify confirmation.

Getting started

Install COD PRO from the Shopify App Store, add credit to the prepaid wallet, choose Hungarian, and select the confirmation channels you want to use. Create rules for orders that should receive a real Shopify fulfillment hold. No Twilio or Meta account is needed.

Cash on delivery in Hungary

In Hungary, cash on delivery is commonly called utánvét. Use that familiar term on the storefront and in delivery information so customers know when payment is collected. Hungarian is available for COD PRO customer messages.

After checkout, COD PRO can ask the customer to confirm by WhatsApp, automated voice call, or email. A voice call asks the customer to press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. If Auto mode is enabled, it tries email first, followed by WhatsApp and then a call, and stops when the customer replies.

For phone verification before checkout, add the Buy with Cash on Delivery button. The shopper receives a WhatsApp or SMS one-time code before continuing to Shopify checkout. This code checks the phone number. It is not an SMS confirmation of a Shopify order.

Couriers and shipment updates

Hungary sellers commonly use Magyar Posta, GLS, DPD, and Foxpost. COD PRO does not integrate directly with these couriers. Continue booking and managing parcels through your usual courier workflow.

When the parcel is ready, create the Shopify fulfillment and add its tracking details. COD PRO sends the shipment notification using the tracking from that fulfillment. Check the carrier and tracking number in Shopify before completing fulfillment so the customer receives the correct information.

Example with and without the COD button

With the COD button: A shopper in Budapest chooses utánvét, verifies their phone with a WhatsApp or SMS code, and continues to Shopify checkout with the matching number. The order arrives confirmed. The seller creates the fulfillment with GLS tracking, and COD PRO uses that tracking for the shipment notification.

Without the COD button: A shopper places an utánvét order through the normal checkout. COD PRO sends a post-order WhatsApp confirmation in Hungarian, while a real Shopify fulfillment hold keeps the order waiting. The customer confirms, the hold is released, and the seller later adds the courier tracking to the Shopify fulfillment.
