How sellers in Mexico use COD PRO

Confirm pago contra entrega orders after Shopify checkout by WhatsApp, automated voice call, or email. Spanish is available for customer messages. During a voice call, the customer presses 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. Auto mode tries email, WhatsApp, and then a call, stopping on the first reply.

Use real Shopify fulfillment holds for orders that should not move forward without confirmation. For a phone check before checkout, the Buy with Cash on Delivery button sends a WhatsApp or SMS one-time code.

Getting started

Install COD PRO from the Shopify App Store, add funds to the prepaid wallet, and choose Spanish for customer messages. Select the confirmation channels and define which orders should receive a Shopify fulfillment hold. COD PRO does not require a Twilio or Meta account.

Cash on delivery in Mexico

In Mexico, cash on delivery is commonly called pago contra entrega. Use the familiar Spanish term wherever customers choose or review their payment method. Spanish is available for COD PRO customer messages.

Once the Shopify order is placed, COD PRO can send a WhatsApp message or email, or make an automated voice call. The call asks the customer to press 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel. Auto mode starts with email, followed by WhatsApp and a call, and stops after the first reply.

The Buy with Cash on Delivery button handles a different stage. Before Shopify checkout, it verifies the shopper’s phone with a WhatsApp or SMS one-time code. The SMS code is not a post-order confirmation message.

Couriers and shipment updates

Mexico sellers commonly use Estafeta, DHL, FedEx, and Redpack. COD PRO does not integrate with these couriers. Book the parcel through your normal carrier process and add the tracking details when you create the Shopify fulfillment.

COD PRO sends the shipment notification using the tracking from that Shopify fulfillment. The same workflow works when the store changes couriers between destinations. Check the carrier and tracking number in Shopify before fulfillment is completed.

Example with and without the COD button

With the COD button: A shopper in Mexico City chooses pago contra entrega, verifies their phone with a WhatsApp or SMS code, and completes checkout using the matching number. The order arrives confirmed. The seller adds Estafeta tracking to the Shopify fulfillment, and COD PRO uses it for the shipment notification.

Without the COD button: A shopper places the order through the normal checkout. COD PRO sends a post-order WhatsApp confirmation in Spanish, while a real Shopify fulfillment hold keeps the order waiting. The customer confirms, the hold is released, and the seller later creates the fulfillment with the selected courier’s tracking.
