WhatsApp order confirmation for Shopify COD orders

COD PRO sends a WhatsApp order summary for Shopify COD orders with the Order ID, product details, and order amount. Customers choose Confirm Order or Cancel Order. The response confirms or cancels the order and releases its Shopify fulfillment hold.

What the customer sees

WhatsApp order confirmation gives a COD customer a direct way to check an order after Shopify checkout. COD PRO sends a WhatsApp template with the details needed to recognise the purchase: the Order ID, product details, and order amount. The message has two clear buttons: Confirm Order and Cancel Order. It is designed to ask for a decision, not to start a long support conversation.

When the customer chooses Confirm Order, COD PRO records the confirmation for that Shopify order. When they choose Cancel Order, COD PRO records the cancellation action. In either case, the order’s Shopify fulfillment hold is released. That matters because the hold is real Shopify fulfillment state. Your operations team can see that the order is no longer waiting for this confirmation step and handle the next action in the normal Shopify workflow.

The WhatsApp message is for post-order confirmation on orders that arrive without matching pre-checkout verification. It is separate from the Buy with Cash on Delivery button on a Shopify storefront. That button can verify a phone number before checkout with a one-time code by WhatsApp or SMS. When the checkout phone matches that verified number, the order arrives already confirmed, with no second WhatsApp message or fulfillment hold. SMS is only used for that one-time code in the Shopify flow. It is not used as an after-order confirmation channel.

A clear COD workflow

Start by deciding which Shopify COD orders without matching pre-checkout verification should be held for confirmation. COD PRO can apply a real fulfillment hold to the orders that match your rules. Next, enable WhatsApp as a confirmation channel. The customer places the order, receives the summary message, and selects Confirm Order or Cancel Order. The response gives your team a clear outcome without needing to call every buyer manually.

The wording in the order summary should help the customer recognise what they bought. The Order ID, product details, and order amount are especially useful when someone has placed more than one order or is checking the message later. Keep your Shopify product names and order amounts accurate, because those are the details the customer uses to make the decision.

If an order is confirmed, release of the hold allows it to continue through fulfillment. If it is cancelled, the hold is also released so the team can follow the appropriate Shopify process for that order. COD PRO does not replace the store’s fulfillment workflow. It adds a confirmation step before that workflow moves forward.

Follow-ups and other channels

Not every customer responds immediately. COD PRO can send automatic follow-ups to non-responders. You can also choose an optional auto-cancel timer. Set these carefully around the way your team works. For example, make sure staff know whether they should wait for a follow-up, inspect the order, or take a manual action after the timer. The point is to make the next action predictable, not to leave a held order unnoticed.

WhatsApp can sit alongside automated voice call and email in a Shopify confirmation process. An automated voice call lets the customer press 1 to confirm. Email is another available confirmation channel. Use the combination that fits your customers and team. Do not describe SMS as a Shopify post-order confirmation option, because it is only the one-time code at the COD button before checkout.

COD PRO supports 13 customer languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Malay, Arabic, Portuguese, Romanian, Hungarian, Greek, Polish, and Czech. Choose a language that COD PRO supports and that your customer can understand. Urdu and Hindi are not currently among the customer message languages. Language selection should be part of your first setup, alongside the confirmation channels and hold rules.

Setup without separate provider accounts

You do not need a Twilio account to send these WhatsApp confirmations. You also do not need Meta or WhatsApp Business onboarding. COD PRO uses its approved senders and templates. That removes a separate provider setup from the launch process and lets the store focus on its confirmation rules, language, and fulfillment decisions.

Before turning the workflow on for every COD order, run through it with a test order. Check the order summary details, the Confirm Order and Cancel Order buttons, and the Shopify fulfillment hold. Then confirm that your team knows where to view the outcome. When the order is later fulfilled, COD PRO can send shipment notifications with the tracking details from the Shopify fulfillment. COD PRO does not integrate directly with couriers, so your usual courier booking process remains unchanged.

Pricing and a practical first setup

COD PRO uses a prepaid wallet and pricing depends on the customer’s country and channel. Rates follow carrier and WhatsApp prices; check Pricing inside the COD PRO app for the latest rate. Review this screen before choosing how often to follow up or whether to use WhatsApp together with calls and email.

A focused first setup is often enough: enable WhatsApp, select a supported customer language, add a fulfillment hold for the COD orders you want to check, and decide how non-responses are handled. Make sure the message’s Order ID, product details, and order amount can be understood at a glance. Then let the Confirm Order and Cancel Order buttons create a clear result for each held order. That gives both the customer and the fulfillment team a simple next step.

Questions sellers ask

Does the WhatsApp message include the order details?

Yes. The confirmation template includes the Order ID, product details, and order amount so the customer can identify the order before choosing an action.

Is SMS used for Shopify WhatsApp order confirmation?

No. Shopify order confirmation uses WhatsApp, automated voice call, and email. SMS is only the one-time code at the Buy with Cash on Delivery button.

What happens if the customer does not reply?

COD PRO can send automatic follow-ups to non-responders and can optionally auto-cancel after a timer, based on your settings.

Do I need a Meta account?

No. COD PRO uses its approved senders and templates, so you do not need Meta or WhatsApp Business onboarding or a Twilio account.
